Associate Professor Andrew Jirasek uses physics to fine-tune machines and equipment that deliver radiation treatments to cancer patients. Through a specialized optical technique, Jirasek and his colleagues are analyzing how molecules and cellular constituents change during treatment. Impacting Community Health in Africa

Each spring, nursing students travel abroad to take on practical placements in rural villages in Ghana and Zambia. Working alongside local health professionals to provide maternity and baby checkups, immunizations, health screenings, and home visits, the students explore community health and discover what words like ‘global citizen’ and ‘advocacy’ truly mean.
