First cohort graduates with Nsyilxcn Language Fluency degree
June 2023 Two years after UBC Okanagan introduced a bachelor’s degree in Indigenous language fluency, eight students were conferred their Bachelor of Nsyilxcn Language Fluency (BNLF) degrees. UBCO delivers the degree through an innovative partnership between Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) in Merritt and the En’owkin Centre in Penticton.
UBCO hosts ceremonies for pandemic graduates
NOVEMBER 2022 After completing their studies during the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 600 alumni from the 2020 and 2021 graduating classes returned to campus to celebrate their accomplishments. While virtual ceremonies were held during the pandemic, hosting a special fall ceremony gave alumni the opportunity to experience this iconic moment in person.
Dr. Deborah Buszard appointed Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
OCTOBER 2022 Dr. Deborah Buszard was appointed UBC’s Interim President and Vice-Chancellor as the Board of Governors announced a search for the university’s next president. Dr. Buszard made her mark in the Okanagan as UBC Okanagan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal between 2012 and 2020.
