Explore orientations
Get to know UBC Okanagan at student-focused welcome activities, such as Create.
Find resources for new students
Access essential supports and resources as you navigate your first few weeks at UBCO.
Connect with us on social
Six things to get your year off to a great start!
Make connections and meet friends
Make connections with like-minded people and forge new friendships.
- Find on-campus events
- Find Student’s Union events
- Get involved with a UBC community
- Sign-up for a course union or club
- Join an intramural league (recreational and competitive)
Find the best places to eat
Explore UBCO Food Service locations to find your new favourite pit stop—whether it’s a coffee pick-me-up or an end-of-day meal.
And keep an eye out for food trucks parked along University Way, or explore off-campus dining partners.
Stay active between studies
Keep on top of your fitness regime—or maybe start a new one—with UBC Recreation.
It’s okay not to be okay. Reach out to Student Wellness if you need support.
Take time to unwind
Looking for a furry stress reliever? Swing by a B.A.R.K (Building Academic Retention Through K9’s) drop-in session for a quick puppy snuggle or pet between classes.
Also, UBCO Collegia spaces are a great space for students living off-campus to eat lunch, do schoolwork, or connect.
Get the most from the classroom
There is no substitute for attending a class in person, where you can ask questions and engage in thoughtful conversation.
If you need to change your registration, do it before the Drop/Withdrawal deadlines.
Contact an advisor for help.
Take advantage of learning supports
There are plenty of resources for academic help.
- Academic and Career Advising: Explore first-year planning guides and reach out to an advisor with your questions.
- Student Learning Hub: Your one-stop shop for free and flexible learning supports and resources.
